A friend sent a piece of root (Japanese horseradish), which was planted in the greenhouse on 14 November 2011. The plant has survived below Zero temperature and grew very well. It will be planted in the outdoor garden about the end of April in a relatively shady area.This is a new plant for me.

An area of 12 square feet was prepared for Wasabi. The bed was dug about as foot deep and sand added and mixed with soil. The area is well drained and relatively damp, and is in partial shade.
