Wood chip mulch was applied to the tomato bed. This is to retain moisture during the season. The chips are readily available at $10.00 per cubic yard, and I pick them up as needed. Transport is in my van with a half yard box installed. My whole garden is mulched and renewed each year as required.

Support strings were attached for all the tomato plants. Additional strings will be instated as required as the plants get larger. I find this the best way to support tomato plants without hindering their growth.
