Trumpet vine (Campsis radicans)

This pretty vine should be planted away from buildings, due to the vigorous root and vegetative growth. It will climb on anything and take over. The growth is unbelievable. Mine is at the rear of the property supported by a ten foot pole. I have seen two types, a red and the orange/yellow one that is shown. Apparently hummingbirds are supposed to favor this flower, but I have seen only one hummingbird this year and it wasn’t favoring the trumpet vine flower. In all the garden books if a flower is trumpet shaped, it is mentioned that hummingbirds are attracted. This has not been my experience.
