A selection of dried beans purchased from a bulk food store were cooked. The beans were washed, boiled for about 30 minutes, rinsed, placed in a colander, then in the pressure cooker. No water touches the beans in the pressure cooker. They are essentially steam cooked. Pressure cook properly at 15 PSI for at least one hour. The cooked beans are soft and will be stored in the freezer. Ketchup may be added for flavor just before serving. I make a separate sauce and mix with the beans before freezing, avoiding the ketchup. There are several methods of cooking beans, but whatever method is chosen, they must be thoroughly cooked for digestion.

This is the typical beans sauce. Ingredients vary from batch to batch. Amounts are subjective. Make a sauce suitable to your taste.
