Eight Brussels Sprouts were planted in the garden. These were purchased in flats and transferred to individual pots to establish strong roots in the greenhouse about two weeks ago. They were spaced at 18 inches and a support was added, since they get very heavy and tend to bend over as the season advances. They are in an isolated space since they are usually the last item removed from the garden in the Fall. The white cabbage butterfly is a pest. I check often and wash the eggs off with a burst of water. Commercially the plants have to be sprayed, since the larvae disfigure the sprouts.
