My complete garden is mulched with wood chips, which are from deciduous trees composted for about a year. The mulch is scraped back to plant seeds and seedlings as required. The main purpose of this procedure is to limit moisture loss due to Sun. This year 15 cubic yards were used, purchased at $10.00 per yard. A load of 10 yards was delivered and I pick up half a yard in the van as required.
