This is the garlic planted in 2016 in October. There are five rows using the cloves from two year old rounds for the main crop. There is one row from normal sized cloves for comparison at harvest. These plants are slightly larger. There are two rows of first year rounds. These will supply the cloves for the 2017 planting. There are two rows of bulbils.
The sequence is, bulbils, rounds, garlic cloves to harvest. It takes three years from bulbils to a normal harvest. The purpose is to not use parts of the main crop for “seed” stock.
