Okra require hot conditions being a tropical African plant and some years in Zone 5 don’t produce well. There are four plants and this is the first pods this year. The pods must be picked when about the size shown or they get fibrous and tough. I fry them cut into slices and add soy sauce or eat the odd one raw. The bushes get about three or four feet tall and bushy in a good year and produce many pods.
