Finding rice cooker to be an encumbrance for several reasons, difficult to clean and it takes up cupboard space. I decided to get rid of it. I now cook perfect rice with little fuss or muss. Method is to make one cup of dry rice, wash it thoroughly, place it in a pot with double the volume of water, namely 2 cups in this case. Without a lid, bring it to a vigorous boil, then turn down the heat to a gentle bubbling. Cook for 15 minutes with the lid in place, do not remove until finished. The rice is perfect to my palate. Clean-up is simply rinsing the pot. I usually use Thai Jasmine white rice, but use brown rice also. The cooked rice is stored in a sealed plastic container in the refrigerator and heated for consumption in the microwave.
